Bangkok - More than 30 people were taken to hospital after a chlorine leak at a hotel swimming pool in Thailand. Most of them are foreign tourists.
The incident occurred on Saturday about 10 am local time at the hotel Phuket Orchid Resort and Spa is located on Karon beach, the resort island of Phuket.
It said chief investigator, Lt. Col. Chavalit Pethsripia as reported by AFP news agency on Saturday (02.18.2012), more than 30 people suffered minor injuries after exposure to the high chlorine content in the hotel pool. No one was seriously injured.
According Phumin Silapan, director of the local hospital, chlorine leaks that cause skin irritation and burning of the eyes.
"There are 37 people who were hospitalized, including 26 foreigners," said hospital director Patong told AFP. He added that 12 people had left the hospital while 25 others had been referred to larger hospitals.
One of the victims referred to it, including a tourist who was pregnant. He had difficulty breathing after inhaling the chlorine chemicals.
